Rome: I wasn’t really sure what to expect to see when I got there. I wanted to be overwhelmed with historic art and be wowed with a sense of history, but in the back of my mind I was thinking that it was just a big city, one that although I should see it can’t possibly even compare to Venice or St. Petersburg… The result was a little bit of both. Beautiful, historic sights, and a big dirty city.

I only had about 12 hours, so don’t take my word on the bad, it’s what I saw and I’m sure if I had a week or even a couple of days I would have seen a better part of Rome.

The history is overwhelming though. I felt like I was walking through a text book on western civ with all the statues and monuments that I saw.
